Donald Lemma is the CIO and Associate Dean for Technology at the Columbia Business School. Previously, he was the CIO and Director of Computing at the SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory, which was run by Stanford University for the US Department of Energy. SLAC maintained the largest scientific database in the world and operates a world-class high performance datacenter. Prior to his tenure at SLAC, Dr. Lemma served as CIO of some of the world’s largest and most complex companies including Schering Plough and Applied Biosystems. His research interests include GPU computing, big-data analytics, and extreme scale databases. He is a Senior Member of the IEEE and a member of the Columbia Business School Senior Leadership Team. Lemma holds a B.Sc. and MPA from Rutgers University and a Ph.D. in computer information systems from Nova Southeastern University.
