Talent
When companies hire from Columbia University’s Master’s in Data Science (MSDS) program, they gain more than technical talent. Our MSDS students are trained to translate data into real business impact, with experience working with real datasets and problems, and an understanding of industry context, not just theory.
Columbia’s MSDS program consistently produces candidates who are ready to operate in real-world, high-stakes environments, especially in industries central to New York City and the global economy, such as healthcare, technology, finance, fashion, real estate, and media. MSDS students gain interdisciplinary exposure through Columbia’s Data Science Institute and strong cross-school interaction. MSDS graduates can think beyond pure ML, understand the business context and work within domain constraints (regulation, ethics, operations).
Our career services team offers a wide range of ways to connect with our students. Companies can post jobs, internship opportunities, host coffee chats, participate in information sessions, technical talks, the career fair or even sponsor a Capstone project, among other things. For some of the events there is a fee but there is no cost for members of the DSI Industry Catalyst Network.
