This fall, join CTL Executive Director and Dead Ideas in Teaching and Learning podcast host, Amanda Irvin, to explore how some Dead Ideas--ideas that persist despite being untrue or no longer serving us (Pike 2011)-- might resurface as we reckon with AI’s impact on teaching and learning in higher education. There are two opportunities to join these lunchtime conversations on “zombie ideas” in the Fall 2026 semester: September 18 and October 22. Please register for each separately.
In the first of these two conversations, we will take a deep dive into questions about who is “responsible” for AI output. Our conversation will use two podcast episodes as a springboard: “Redefining Academic Integrity in the Age of AI” with Phill Dawson, Co-Director of the Centre for Research in Assessment and Digital Learning at Deakin University and “‘Constitutively Irresponsible’: Why Students Can’t be GenAI’s Quality Control” with Gene Flenady, Lecturer in Philosophy at Monash University, and Robert Sparrow, Professor of Philosophy at Monash University. Please listen to these podcast episodes, as you’re able, before the conversation. You can find the Dead Ideas podcast on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, or streaming on the CTL website.
