This fall, join CTL Executive Director and Dead Ideas in Teaching and Learning podcast host, Amanda Irvin, to explore how some Dead Ideas--ideas that persist despite being untrue or no longer serving us (Pike 2011)-- might resurface as we reckon with AI’s impact on teaching and learning in higher education. There are two opportunities to join these lunchtime conversations in the Fall 2026 semester: September 18 and October 22. Please register for each separately.
In our final conversation in this series, we will consider attitudes towards AI in our own Columbia community. Our conversation will be organized around two podcast episodes: “AI is Not Inevitable” with Madison Whitman, Director of Undergraduate Studies and Assistant Director of Curriculum Development at Columbia University’s Center for Science and Society, and “Reimagining Teaching and Learning in the Age of AI: A Conversation with Columbia Students.” Please listen to these podcast episodes, as you’re able, before the conversation. You can find the Dead Ideas podcast on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, or streaming on the CTL website.
