A 60-minute session for Columbia instructors.
AI agents (also called “chatbots” or “bots”) are customizable AI tools that can be used to support both instructors and their students. For example, Mollick and Mollick (2023) proposed that AI agents can be designed as a tutor, mentor, tutee, coach, or simulator for deliberate practice to support student learning. Similarly, instructors can design AI agents to help make their courses more inclusive and accessible. In this workshop, we’ll use Google Gemini to explore how to easily design AI agents that can support both instructors and students.
Session objectives:
- Explore ways that AI agents can support teaching and learning.
- Discover how to easily design and share AI agents using Google Gemini.
- Practice building an AI agent to support student learning and/or to help you design and teach your courses.
