Teaching with AI Clinic: Helping Students Check Understanding

March 26, 2026
1:10 PM - 2:25 PM
America/New_York
Butler Library, 535 W. 114 St., New York, NY 10027 212

This session will consider approaches to using AI as a 'student' for actual students to teach, allowing them to identify gaps in their understanding of course concepts. Participants in this clinic will get hands-on experience interacting with AI agents designed for this, and consider modifications that would be desirable for teaching in their own discipline. This is one of six Teaching with AI Clinics being offered.

No preparation or experience with AI necessary. Registrants are encouraged to bring a laptop or tablet, if possible, so they can try out and play with this model for using AI with students.

Teaching with AI Clinics are an opportunity for Columbia instructors to learn about, experiment with, and discuss applications of AI to drive learning and engagement. The clinics feature models developed  by 2024-25 Teaching with AI Fellows at CTL, in consultation with faculty and CTL learning designers.

Clinics are not sequential, and we invite interested instructors to register for any and all clinics that interest them. Browse and access registration links for other Teaching with AI Clinics on CTL's website.
